Background
The pontoon is community owned and run by Mull and Iona Community Trust and was built on behalf of the local community to help strengthen the local economy with the ultimate aim of sustaining Ulva Primary School.
Details
The pontoon was installed in July 2016 and provides berthing for up to 8 visiting boats. Fingers are 12m, 11m and 10m, allowing berthing for up to 16m vessels in the outer berths. The pontoon has good depth at the outer berths, 4-5.5m. Mid berths, there is a depth of 3-4m. There is less depth at the inner finger restricting use to tenders and day boats (1.5m)
The main approach to the pontoon is via the south entrance to the Sound of Ulva. At LWMS there are depths of<2m in places. Use normal caution and local tide tables, charts and pilot guides. Grid reference: Latitude: 56.481821 Longitude: - 6.1498708
